BRANDELLI
Brandelli, is an upcycling project of second hand jumpers, selected from a mapping of Turin markets.
The title Brandelli takes inspiration from a 1967 Vogue article "Here come the jesters with oversized pullovers and knitted shreds."
The idea stems from reflecting on knitwear, to investigate its theme of reuse and handwork, the practice of knitting, as an activist response to consumerism and the concept of DIY "Do It Yourself."
I emphasized the operation of redesigning second hand knits, that is, actions of reuse and assembly with direct manual interventions and cut-out work, in order to decontextualize both the characteristics of finished products and the peculiarities̀ commonly attributed to knitted garments.
